Excerpt from the front page of this issue

Let me introduce Leo. Those living on the North West Coast and regular readers of the Advocate will recognise him immediately. For everyone else, let me fill you in. When Leo joined the Guide Dog Programme in July 2006, he was lucky enough to be sponsored by the Advocate newspaper in Devonport. This meant, of course, that they had a special interest in Leo’s progress and his adventures along the way. But rather than just reporting a story here and there, it was decided that Leo would be given his own column every week in the Saturday edition. Thus he has become known as the Canine Correspondent.
